Perhaps the most popular addition to
Omaha in recent years was the Central
Park Mall. It added beauty and a new at-
traction to the downtown area. This park
encompassed a lake complete with fish
and ducks, a huge slide, and grassy areas
for picnics. After concerts or on a week-
end, many people went down there and
and just walked around, enjoying the at-
mosphere. (P. MAHONEY)
Taco Bell was a popular food source for
high school students. Many went there for
lunch because it was nearby and offered a
large selection of good Me xican food. The Students' favorite clothing
prices were fair with a meal-combination spe- store was Brandeis, with the
cial each week. Another fast food favorite for Hitching Post coming in a close
students was Rax . This restaurant offered a second. It had popular styles for
variety of good food minus the "cheeseburger
and fries" combination. Burger King, however, both guys and girls at reasonable
still reigned supreme. People felt it offered the prices. The clerks were friendly
best double cheeseburger and the only oppor- and the store in Baker's Square
tunity to get onion rings for miles. Two things was especially attractive after its
that these places shared was their good food interior was redone. Unfortunate-
for a low price and their proximity to school ly, Brandeis was bought out by
and homes. (P. MAHONEY ) Younker's. (P. MAHONEY )
