Writing entries for contests is not the
only thing that members of the Writer's Club
did. For example, they sold candy, critiqued
each others work, discussed different authors
and supported and encouraged each other's
writing.
Writer's Club was a social group of
students ranging from ninth grade to twelfth
grade. They met every Wednesday at the li-
brary after school and welcomed other students
that were interested.
"No writing was ever finished be-
cause it could always be better," said Mary
Hills. She said she-enjoyed working with the
students and helping them write to meet their
full potential.
The club accommodated all styles,
from one line poems to short stories, allowing
a wide variety of students to become involved
with the group.
Writings were not only entered into
contests. Some students desired to send their
work to magazines or other publications through
the school. Others even hoped to publish some
day.
"Whatever the reason, the club con-
tinued to expand and grow, allowing creativity
to develop within the students that were in-
volved in it," said Hills.
