• 'There isn' t anything to do in

: Omaha." This complaint echoed through-
• out the hallways often, but many students
: found a way to get over the boredom blues
• by filling their free time with fun. and un-
• usual activities .
• Senior Luke Tippler used his free
•
• time to go mountain biking for both exercise
• and excitement. He said,"The intensity and •
the adrenaline level reached while descend-
ing down a mountainside at 40 miles per
houroverdirt, rocks, and fallen tree branches
is phenomenal!"
Another thrilling pastime for many
students was rock climbing at the Southwest
YMCA's 29 foot high indoor wall. It was a
low cost, exciting alternative to staying home
on the couch with a bag of Doritos. "Rock
• climbing is a rush. Once I got the chance to
• try it, I was hooked,"said Senior Alex
: Herr,"It takes a lot of raw power, agility,
• and most importantly, concentration," he

• sat .
• Some students chose the more tra- •
: ditional route and used their free time to play
• a quick game of touch football, or a pick-up
: basketball scrimmage."! like the. competi-
• tion of playing practice soccer games with
: my friends, and just being around people is
• more fun than doing nothing." Junior Heidi
• Taggert said.
One of the most popular ways for
winding down and taking it easy was to
roam the malls looking for the elusive bar-
gain. "Shopping is very relaxing. You don't
have to think about anything, and I love
going to look at all of the new clothes in
stores." said Senior Tiffany Tarr.
Whether one looked for excitement
or relaxation when using free time, it was •
easy to find an activity that was both inter-
esting and fun at the same time.e
