Custodians,
Cooks Work
For Students
-Sherri Zucker-
The school day for most students
started at 8:00 a.m. and ended at 3:00 p.m.
However, the cooks arrived early in the
morning to prepare lunches; Custodians
arrived long before students and stayed to all
hours of the night cleaning the school.
Some of the problems the cooks
had to deal with were knowing how many to
cook for and what to cook. 'The biggest
challenge of my job was keeping everybody
happy and to make sure the meals were eye
appealing. This was sometimes hard be-
cause of the time element involved," said
Manager Kathy Goergen.
The custodial staff made sure the
school was clean and in working condition
for the next school day. 'The hardest part of
my job was keeping the equipment operat-
ing and figuring out problems you don't
know answers to," said Engineer George
Osborne.
Many of the cooks enjoyed the
involvement with the students. "It was
interesting to see and hear the different
personalities of the students," said 11-12
Cook Sandi Leopoldt.
The custodial staff felt the same
way. "I liked being around the kids because
they made me feel young," said Custodian
Frank Matukewicz. -Osborne said 'The
kids were neat, and it was interesting to see
them advance from freshmen to seniors."
