Car Uses

                                                                                             Cars were  used  for  more  than  just
                                                                                      driving.  They  were  also  for  wrecking,  hitting
                                                                                      other cars,  doing  crazy  things  in,  hauling  kids,
                                                                                      and  using  them  as  an  extra  locker.  The  possi-
                                                                                      bilties  were  endless.
                                                                                              "I  once  slept  in  my  car,"  Junior
                                                                                      Michelle Muirhead said .  "We videotaped
                                                                                      things  for  a friend ; you  can't see them  very  well,
                                                                                      but  it  was  fun.  We even  taped  the  Burger  King   ll
                                                                                      drive  through,"  said  Senior  Gina Mategrano.
                                                                                      "We did  a chinese  fire  driU  with  23  people,  one   I
                                                                                      at a  time.  It  took  three green  lights,"  Senior Jon   I
                                                                                      David said.
                                                                                             Others  took  daring  chances.  Junior
                                                                                      Jason BeaUe  said,  'This girl  and  I  switched
                                                                                      outershirts  while  driving,  she  liked  my  shirt
                                                                                      better."  "I couldn't see  out  of my  front  wirdow
                                                                                      so  I drove  with  my  head  out of the  sun  roof, and
                                                                                      my  friend  did  the  pedal s.  My  hair  got  really
                                                                                      messed  up! "  said  Beth Ryker.
                                                                                             Unfortunately  sometimes  cars  became
                                                                                      "victims" of accidents.  The outcome wasn't
                                                                                      always pretty.  "I  was  going  to  pick  up  a  friend
                                                                                      to  go  to  the  winter  play.  I  tried  turning  into  a
                                                                                      street  that  wasn't there  and  hit  a  huge  cement
                                                                                      gutter which  slit  my  tire  open," said  Senior
                                                                                      Sarah McGee.  Senior  Tris Jacobs also  had  a
                                                                                      similar experience.  "The frrst  time  I drove  a car,
                                                                                      I  crashed  it."  Muimead  side-wiped  a  curb  and
                                                                                      wrecked  the  alignment  on  'her  car  one  time.
                                                                                             Sometimes  because  of these  accidents,
                                                                                      cars  were  never  the  same.  "My  car  wouldn't
                                                                                      turn  right;  I had  to  turn  left  wherever  I went.  I
                                                                                      didn 't  have  heating,  airconditioning ,  windshield
                                                                                      wipers,  and  the  doors  didn 't  work,"  said  Junior
                                                                                      Renae Caverhill.  "My  car doors  did  not  open
                                                                                      from  the  inside  so  we  had  to  "Daisy  Duke" it  out
                                                                                      the  windows.  Plus  there  was  no  radio,  so  we
                                                                                      sang,"  said  Freshman  Ashley Pixton.
                                                                                             They  were  definitely  a  new  form  of
                                                                                      entertainment  and  their  uses  were  endless.  Cars
                                                                                      are  no  longer  just for  driving.
