Soaps Prove
to be Quite
Entertaining
-Marci Levine-
Setting a VCR to record a favorite
soap opera was very popular among many stu- :
dents . Whether it was Days of Our Lives orl
Young and the Restless, students made time for
their soap operas. -
There were many reasons students
watched soap operas. Librarian Betty Sample
watched soap operas because"there were char-
acters that were wonderful to hate!" Junior
Jeny Mitchell watched it because"I just loved,
the people, and I got so involved with the plots." :
"It seemed to me, more realistic than others. Be-
lieve me, I've watched many ," said Sophomore
Jill Hoover.
Some students, on the other hand, dis-
liked soap operas. Senoir Randy Mollner
avoided soaps because, "it is a waste of valuable
vidoe tape!" Another student, Junior Laminda
Bush disliked soaps because "I didn't under-
stand why anyone would want to spend their
afternoon watching a bunch a of made up prob-
lems."
Many people that couldn't get to a T.V.
would resort to other resources. Some students
went go to their local supermarkets and checker
out Soap Opera Digest. Others called the toll
free soap opera hotline . The last resort would
be to set a VCR. If it wasn't for all of these
resources, many students were stuck in reality .
Whether watching T.V. or relying on
other resourses, students made sure to keep up
with their soap operas somehow.
