Changes

             Strengthen

             Class Boards

                      -Tanya Patry-

The Junior and Senior class boards
were highly successful due to what they said
were the changes made to the board this year.
                  "A Tradition Continues ... ", as the
back of the JCB jackets said, still held true,
however, both boards decided that changes
were necessary to strengthen the boards.
Among the changes made by the
JCB included "making Prom second priority
           to community service,"said JCB sponsor
Steve Dvorak. This did not mean lowering
the standards of Prom, but merely allowing
the group to do good for the community as
well. "This is going to be a gradual thing
over the years, but we wanted to start as soon
           as we could," added Dvorak.
A major step was made by the SCB
to open meetings to all seniors rather than
just the elected board members. 'The board
represented the entire senior class, not a
select few, and we wanted everyone to have
a say in what went on during their senior
year," said Vice President Rachel Collier.
                  Both boards planned several activi-
ties throughout the year. Service projects
such as the Coat drive and Canned Food
drive, which collected over 1700 pounds of
food in only three days. School-related
projects like the Homecoming pep rally and
fundraisers such as sweatshirt sales and
Honey Sunday provided all members with a
heavy work load. "It took a lot of time and
effort, and I mean a LOT, but it was all worth
           it," said Junior Chris Biga.
I· sometimes faced with tlmmg or money,
                  Despite the problems the boards
their goals improved both the school and
           community.
