ith the hopes of being rewarded with awards and scholarships,
W
students challenged themselves, set goals and stretched
themsel ves beyond the1r limits academically and athletically 1n
and out of school .
"I set high goals for myself during high school; I got good
grades and a high ACT score. Because of that, I received a nice scholarship
from Creighton University," senior Renee Fye said.
Receiving academic awards made students feel that their
hard work had finally paid off.
"I was so excited when I found out that I was getting
scholarships from the college Oowa State University) that I would l1ke to
attend, I couldn't wait to tell my parents," senior T .ar .a Dobmeier said.
Students were also rewarded for challenging themselves
athletically .
"The dance team had been hav1ng a rough year. That's why
when we won th1rd and fifth place at nationals th1s year, It wasn't just
winning an award, 1t was above and beyond that. We were all very happy
with the outcome," senior Ashley Dokken said.
Other athletes were recognized for their accomplishments on
the f1eld.
"I earned an All -Districts Honorable Mention th1s year for
vars1ty football. It was cool," JUnior Mark Nelson said .
Some students took their talents outside of the school walls
to earn their honors .
"Last year, my hockey team voted me as Most Valuable
Player . I also won the honor of all-state and all-conference . I was very
proud of myself," senior Bryan Baron said.
Knowing that awards and scholarships were ava1lable .
Students used their talents and exceeded the1r expectations, while doing
what they loved .

Academics
