Giving t others without the pressure of doing it for
class credit or club requirements took special people.
Some of these teens could be found in religious youth
groups who went to places such as The Lydia House and The
Open Door Mission and participated in activities like Habitat
for Humanity The youth groups also took part in raising money
for medical needs.
" My youth group and I go and do many kinds of
volunteer work. Lately we have raised money for breast cancer
awareness and the Make a Mish Foundation as well as
participating in a walk for Israel ," sophomore Aly Friedman said
Other students did not need any incentive when they
choose to volun teer. They did it to personally give back to their
community.
" I volunteer weekly at the Children's Hospital I play
with the patients, doing activities such as painting. I also deliver
flowers, clean toys, and address surveys. Volunteering is an
amazing experience. It is a great way to learn about yourself
and others while reaching out to the community at the same
time," iunior Stefanie Graff said
Students found it very rewarding when they helped
out in their community. They were able to put themselves aside
to lend a hand to others. The fulfillment they received in the end
