             W
                     preppie. students at Millard
                     North enjoyed wearing and
              watching those who wore fashionable
clothes. Many new styles and ac-
              cessories became popular.
                  Wild colors, miniskirts and army
jackets were some of the things that
made punk fashions stand out. At the
beginning of the school year only a
few brave students were seen wear~ ....
ing them, but after a month or two.
they really caught on. Some students
even purchased these items at the
              Salvation Army.
For the preppie look, guys were
              seen wearing straight leg jeans,
button down shirts. izod sweaters and
topsiders. With girls , knickers were a
              pleasant change along with baggy
              pants, turtlenecks and duck shoes.
Leg warmers were a totally new
and different idea. They were a
colorful and warm way to dress up
jeans and were worn mainly with
              boots. Sophomore. Mary Armatis
added that dancers had worn leg
warmers for years. She thought they
were especially nice for the cold
              winter months.
                  Headbands and buttons were
              new accessories popular with guys.
With girls, shoe laces were decorated
with anything from hearts to alligators.
Many were seen with some unique
print on her tennis shoe laces.
                  Students wore anything from
              miniskirts to tuxedos and here,
students weren't afraid to show their
individuality in the clothes they wore.
With preppie clothes and duck shoes, Freshman
              Chris Hallgren hits the lounge.
